Ballet

Ballet will strengthen and lengthen your body at the same time. Ballet is the core to every form of dance. You will learn to keep your center strong, stand tall, and strengthen your arms, legs, feet, and abdominals while becoming more flexible. Ballet is great for posture, grace, and coordination. It is not just for girls it is great for boys too. Ballet may seem like a feminine form of dance but the guy’s role is very masculine. You lead, lift, toss and catch the girl and most of your movements as a guy consist of turning and jumping. In these classes you will gain flexibility, strength, and learn the most beautiful and/or impressive movements the human body can create. Ballet will help you understand your body and focus on controlling it. You will find and understand your muscles like you never did before. We will be working on everything ballet has to offer, the basic movements and names to combinations and even some famous variations from well known ballets. Everyone can benefit from regular exercise like dance. Kids who are active will have stronger muscles and bones, have a leaner body because exercise helps control body fat, be less likely to become overweight and possibly lower blood pressure and blood cholesterol levels.
Besides enjoying the health benefits of regular exercise, kids who are physically fit sleep better and are better able to handle physical and emotional challenges...and have much more fun.

We offer classes for babies and kids. Please give us a call to see what time fits your schedule.

Hawaiin Dance

The teacher of hula is the kumu hula, where kumu means source of knowledge. Hula dancing is a complex art form, and there are many hand motions used to signify aspects of nature, such as the basic Hula and Coconut Tree motions, or the basic leg steps, such as the Kaholo, Ka'o, and Ami. During the 20th century influx of Western culture created significant changes in the formal Hawaiian arts, including hula. Hula as it evolved under Western influence, in the 19th and 20th centuries, is called 'auana. It is accompanied by song and Western-influenced musical instruments such as the guitar, the 'ukulele, and the double bass.

If you need more info about this really cool, exotic dance form please don't hesitate calling us.

Latin

Latin/Rhythm dances are commonly danced to contemporary Latin American music, and with the exception of a few traveling dances (e.g. Samba and Paso Doble) couples do not follow the line of dance and perform their routines more or less in one spot. In competitions, the women are often dressed in short-skirted latin outfits while the men outfitted in tight-fitting shirts and pants; the goal being to bring emphasis to the dancers' leg action and body movements.

Bring yourself and learn with your teacher as your partner or bring somebody you want to dance with and have fun. A great way to socialize and get to know maybe a future significant other.

HipHop

Early hip hop has often been credited with helping to reduce inner-city gang violence by replacing physical violence with dance and artwork battles. In the early 1970s, Kool DJ Herc began organizing dance parties in his home in the Bronx. The parties became so popular they were moved to outdoor venues to accommodate more people. City teenagers, after years of gang violence, were looking for new ways to express themselves. These outdoor parties, hosted in parks, became a means of expression and an outlet for teenagers, where "Instead of getting into trouble on the streets, teens now had a place to expend their pent-up energy."
Try it out and take a class with us. You will love it!

Jazz- Funk

Jazz-funk is a sub-genre of jazz music characterized by a strong back beat (groove), electrified sounds, and often, the presence of the first electronic analog synthesizers. Jazz-funk characteristics include a departure from ternary rhythm (near-triplet) to the more danceable and unfamiliar binary rhythm, known as the "groove".

Paricipate and enjoy the freedom of electrifying moves and express yourself with the cool rythm of this dance style.

Jazz is a great way to express yourself.  You will move your body to the music and steps while putting your own style to it. The movements may toss you around and pull you, while other movements may be controlled and slow. Jazz is a great way to release your stress and energy and get your blood pumping. Jazz can be emotional, intriguing, funky, crazy, and silly all in one routine. You will learn to move to the music; accenting some movements and smoothing out others, to make your movement exciting. Jazz will work on your strength and flexibility, while teaching you to isolate the movement in different parts of your body. Most of all jazz is a fun way to get your cardio while being creative and learning to understand your body. It is one of the most common forms of dance because it is fun!
